In this edition of ‘Found by James’ I focus on my favorite outdoor cushions. Who am I to be picking a good cushion? Read more about me here.
I am sure you agree that a good quality outdoor cushion can liven up any backyard landscape. Choosing the right cushion can be the hard part and that is where I come in. Before I tell you my favorite (you can scroll down below if you want to skip ahead) I will point out some of the important factors to consider when choosing a cushion for your area.
Firstly, if you landscaped area is somewhat bold and already has interesting items such as a water feature, rock formation or other eye catching items you may be better off with a neutral-colored cushion. A neutral color will help to compliment the bold features without over dominating them, or ‘competing’ with them as such.
If on the other hand your landscape is somewhat vibrant in color via the use of different floral plants, flowers and/or orchids, you may like to use a floral or patterned type cushion to help those bright colors pop and bring some more visual excitement to the space.
If you backyard area is primarily designed for children then there is nothing wrong with throwing all the design rules out the window and go with a ‘novelty’ or cartoon type cushion. Better still, why not get a personalized cushion which has a print of your child’s favorite photo. Maybe go with a Disney theme or the newly popular Minions. These can add some real personality to the children backyard landscape.
Ok, drum roll…..so my favorite cushion as ‘found by james’ is this bright and vibrant outdoor cushion which you could no doubt find at any good retailer.
Why did I choose this one? More times than not cushions are used to bring color and definition to an area. You want the design to grab your attention and interest you but also not want you to stare and go ‘what is that?’. I feel the below cushion does just that. The green background color would compliment landscapes with large grass areas whilst the red ‘eye’ type shapes would provide no doubt a different color to your space as most backyards do not incorporate much red. It is different, it is creative, it looks great and would work in most outdoor areas. Don’t forget, if you end up buying one for your home please tell your friends it was ‘found by james’.
