...in the year 2000

Note from Paris

Apparently the Bibliothèque nationale de France owns an amazing collection of 24 illustrations by French artist Villemard. In a series of postcards from 1910 he depicts what life might be like in the year 2000. It’s interesting to see how ‘improvement of every day life’ is visualized by machines taking over our manual tasks. Man is lazy by nature.

Some of Mr. Villemard’s images still are what we are dreaming of today, others are extremely close to what has actually happened. In a few cases I’m happy, we are still more actively in contact with each other and the elements surrounding us. On my next trip to Paris I will surely make time to visit the library and try to see the illustrations in real.
