Let’s put another shrimp on the BBQ with our Australian edition of my ‘top 5’ recommended outdoor accessories.
There is nothing like a good Aussie summer spent in a Sydney backyard. Who doesn’t want to put their feet up whilst enjoying a beer, cooking up a steak, whilst admiring their freshly cut lawn! Sounds like a perfect weekend afternoon to me!
Having a nice landscaped backyard is one thing, such as this example from the landscaping Sydney experts at Sand and Stone Landscapes.
Having a nice landscaped backyard which has some beautiful accessories to admire is something even better.
In this post I will focus on what I believe are the top 5 items you want to have in your Sydney backyard. Ok, let’s get into it.
Colourful outdoor rug
If you are fortunate enough to have a backyard pool don’t be afraid to add a bit of colour to its border with a bright summer style rug. The good thing is, you can be as creative as you like with colours, almost anything will go and will give your pool area the vibrance and freshness it deserves.
Cushions to brighten any landscape area
Cushions or small pillows can give your furniture a nice finishing touch or as they say a nice ‘cherry on top’. To capture that Aussie feeling greens and bright yellows can be used, or alternatively blue’s and red’s to resemble the Australian flag.
Pictures of local icons such as the Harbour Bridge or Opera House could also be a welcome addition and would again look great around a pool or pond type feature.
If your backyard afternoon drinks turn into night it can be useful to have some beautiful garden torches on hand to brighten the space and add a resort type feeling to your outdoor living area. I love the warmth that a slow burning outdoor torch can bring to your backyard or frontyard.
Decorative Esky or Beverage Tub
The main positive about having a nice beverage tub on hand is that it is also practical as it naturally stores all of your drinks. Forgot about the typical bright white plastic esky from your local hardware or homewares store. Get creative and go with something a bit different.
Do you know what a triptych is? No, that’s ok, neither did I the first time I heard it but it is basically the greek word to describe a 3 piece wall art. These decorative outdoor accessories round out my top 5 and are a ‘must’ in Australian outdoor areas big enough to handle them. Depending on the material some can create a nice late afternoon reflection of the Sydney sun. There are literally thousands of different designs to choose from but again, here is one of my favourites:
Well that completes it. I hope you have found the above Top 5 ‘Found by James’ items useful when playing your next Australian outdoor landscape DIY project or even just to spruce up your existing space.
